1. Information We Collect

AI Translation Chat does not collect any personal information. We do not collect:

• Names, email addresses, or account information
• Usage statistics or analytics
• Translation content or history
• Device identifiers or IP addresses

2. Local Data Storage

All data generated by the app — including translation history, settings, and LLM configurations — is stored locally on your device at %USERPROFILE%\.translate_helper\. This data never leaves your machine unless you explicitly choose to share it.

3. Translation Methods

Where your text goes depends entirely on which translation method you select:

• Built-in local model (default): Translation runs on your own computer. The text you enter is never transmitted anywhere — no server of ours, and no third party, ever receives it.
• Custom API (OpenAI-compatible, optional): If you choose to configure one, the text you enter is sent to the endpoint you specified (e.g., OpenRouter, or your own server). Please refer to the privacy policy of that provider. We have no control over how that service handles your data.

4. Internet Connection

The app does not require an internet connection to translate. A connection is used only to download the local model file once, from Hugging Face (or its mirror where the main site is unreachable), and — if you have configured one — to reach your chosen API provider. Downloading the model transmits no text of yours. No other network requests are made by the application itself.

5. Children's Privacy

This application is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
